Overview

Going on raids gets you DKP. All items have a point value. You spend your DKP to 'purchase' these items on a raid. So, what if multiple people want the same item? Well, certain point totals put you in a DKP tier. There is a table below that shows the DKP range and the tier in which it places you. People in a higher tier get first dibs on items that drop. So let's say an item drops that is worth 15 points that you and BratBjorn want. You have 39 points and BratBjorn has 40 points. BratBjorn is in tier 3 and you are in tier 2. Unfortunately, BratBjorn gets it...but he had to spend 15 points and now has 25 points. So let's say another item drops and you both want it. You now are on equal tiers and that is resolved by a /roll. Highest wins.

That's the idea. Here are the details.

Gaining Points

At the beginning of the raid on Wednesday, August 29, every member of TABA will receive 10 points. Future members will receive this same starting DKP of 10. Recruits will have 0 until they reach member status.

Below is a table explaining how DKP is earned in Helegrod. The basic idea is that clearing is worth a point and killing a boss is worth two points (unless it's Thorog, the Ridiculous). Showing up on time* and being there at the start are also worth a point (easy points!). You will notice that these events separate Helegrod into a number of sections: Beginning -> Stewards, Stewards -> Giant, Giant, Stewards -> Spider, Spider, etc. Points for each section will be given at the end of that section. Screenshots will be taken (by Manhands...I'm the one handling all of this...) and points given based on who was there for that section. If you leave half-way through, no points for that section. If you go link-dead for most of a section (subjective, I know...I'll be fair), no points.

*Showing up on time means being in the raid and heading to the Bitter Stair at raid time....unless you're crafting something for the benefit of the raid. There are probably other exceptions, but your dog eating your router, your hang-over, or your sucky connection (that's you, Skorp) are not one of them. Sorry, but we want to reward people who save time by being there.

5**

**Once a month, killing Thorog will be worth 10 points instead of 5 (or whatever other tough bosses they add in the future). These will be planned months ahead of time, and we will announce to the raid when we begin if you came to the bonus raid. We don't have to do this, we just want to continue to reward those who show up. Odds are, if you show up consistently, you'll be at some bonus raids.

So let's take a recent raid. We killed the Giant and Spider. If you were on time, you would earn all the points in the top 7 rows. That's 9 points. But we then went to Evendim. Taking the same logic, you would also get 1 point for clearing up to the boss and 2 points for him. That's 12 points for Sunday. Looking at the item costs shown in the next section you can see that most items can be gained in 1.5 to 2 raids. Not bad considering we want to go two times a week. So oh boy! You have arbitrary points attributed to your name! How the hell are these spent? Keep reading.

Point Tiers

Quick summary: The number of points you have put you in a point tier. For instance:

 Lower boundUpper bound
Tier 0

 0

 0

Tier 1 10 19
Tier 2 20 29
Tier 3 3039
Tier 4 40 49
Tier 5 50 59

You get the point, it keeps going up by 10 now

This is subject to change, but it gives an idea of expanding point tiers. Players in higher tiers have first dibs on items. Players in the same tier /roll for the item.

Item Values

Items...items...items...you want 'em, Helegrod has got 'em (kinda...). Some items will drop that you want for sure (like set items, for instance...kinda), but some items are situational and are not worth spending precious DKP. This is where our kinship bank is going to come in. You are allowed to purchase some items with gold OR dkp. These items are split into two categories shown below.

***Both the game and this DKP system are new and subject to change, but as it is now if we find that you sell an item you purchased on a raid (with either dkp or gold) we will boot you from the kinship. That may change as better items come out and such.

 DKP$$$
Category 11G
Category 21.5G

So a category 2 item can be bought for 5 dkp or 1.5 gold. Keep in mind that tiers still make a difference. Also keep in mind that these items will probably sell for more than 1 or 1.5 gold at the AH...but if you purchase an item you must use it. However, if no one wants, these items will go to the kinship bank and will be sold. Don't worry, the gold we acquire on Bankoftaba will go to good use for the kinship. More on that later (coming soon).

Okay, so here is a list of confirmed items taken from http://lotro.mmodb.com/items/zone-helegrod/ and their point values. These are subject to change, and may be more expensive in Hawaii, Alaska, and New Zealand. I didn't have time to get all spiffy and show the stats on everything. You can find them at the link above, though.

*On the website, there is a count for the number of raids attended. Those with the most get first dibs on the quest items. Also, for the first few raids, those with the most of the quest item will be allowed to finish off the quest (or if you won the roll for them on a previous TABA raid).
